Our Staff
![]()
The Nursery School is set up to bring the very best in early learning experiences to each and every child. In order to do this it is important to have highly skilled staff to implement the programs and to nurture the children. While the environment is intended to be very exciting and enriching it is vitally important that every child relates on a very personal level to one or two teachers who will take full responsibility for his/her welfare while in our care. Therefore each child is assigned to a homeroom group which they stay with each session. Every Home Room has one teacher and one assistant who remain with your child and take this group, on a timetable, to the various rooms of interest in the school.
Every school also needs support staff to make sure programs are up and running, fees are recorded, supplies bought, phone is answered, front door monitored etc.
While all of our staff are unique and come to this centre with a wide variety of skills and educational backgrounds, all must go through the same mandatory screening procedures. Every person who would be on site and have any kind of contact, no matter how casual, with a child, has gone through these procedures.
1.
Police Reference Check
2. Medical, Tuberculosis and Immunization Check
3. Professional Qualification Check
4. Hiring Interviews with Supervisor
5. Employment Reference Check
6. Sign Behaviour Management Policy (annually)
7. Sign Policy and Procedure Manual (annually) for yearly contract staff
8. Formal Written Performance Evaluation (annually) for yearly
contract staff
9. Formal Written Performance Evaluation (after 4 months) for new
probationary staff
*** In every Home Room group there is at least one staff with recent CPR and First Aid Training.

Student Teachers
Each semester the Nursery School offers its services to students from the Board of Education, Community Colleges, and Universities who are training to become Early Childhood Educators. These students are supervised by our Home Room Teachers and are under the direction of their program advisor from their college. All student teachers undergo the police check, provide immunization clearance and sign our behaviour management policy before they begin their practice teaching assignments here.
Volunteers
Helping hands are always needed and appreciated in our Nursery School classes. All volunteers must sign our behaviour management policy, submit to a police check and provide up to date immunization information. Volunteers are supervised by Home Room staff.
Supply Staff
Nursery Support and sentient are agencies which supply Registered Early Childhood Education Teachers and Assistants to nursery schools and daycare centres. Occasionally when we are short staffed, we call an agency to supply us with a teacher either on a daily basis or for a longer period of time. All of these supply teachers have appropriate qualifications, police checks and up to date immunization.
